General

Lateness

Lateness happens sometimes, we are all busy. Sometimes, however unfortunate, lateness leaves me unable to carry out the treatments or able to rebook your appointment slot.
If you are late to a lash extensions appointment, we will proceed but you will lose that time off of your appointment. Less time means less lashes. Less lashes result in your lashes not lasting as long. You will be responsible for booking an earlier infill or may pay for extra lashing time, if I am able to accommodate it.
If you are late for a lash lift, brow lamination or anything where I need to use a timer, more than 5 minutes lateness will result in a reduced appintment eg. No tint or shape included depending on the period missed. Your appointment will still be charged at the full amount, to cover our therapists' time.

What's your cancellation policy?

Your appointment confirmation email has a link that allows you to change your appointment for free until 48 hours before. This lets you keep your deposit and gives me chance to fill the appointment.

If you cancel within 48 hours, your card will be charged 50% (inclusive of deposit paid) of the appointment amount, as it is unlikely I can fill the appointment.

If you NO SHOW or cancel within 24 hours, your card will be charged 100% of the appointment cost. This is because a no show leaves me unable to rebook the appointment.

This business has costs, including central city rent, operating expenses, product replenishment and wages. No shows can render me unable to pay for my responsibilities. It is your responsibility to communicate whether and why you are cancelling late or not coming and pay the relative cancellation fee.

Where can I park?

If you are driving, allow time to park close by. The Terrace car park is above us in the same building so convenience wise and especially if it’s raining, I suggest you park there. If you would prefer to find free parking, please allow yourself extra time to park elsewhere and walk.

Can I bring someone to my appointment with me?

Please come to your appointment alone. This is important for you, for me and for our other clients.

The best result in lashes, facial tattooing, waxing and more happen when your face is relaxed with your eye area still and when I am able to focus and give my undivided attention to the sevice at hand.

There are also sharp items and sterile equipment around the salon so it's best for children to be arranged to be taken care of.

Please get in touch if you have anxieties about being alone, more questions or if your guardian helping you sign your consent would rather stay close by. In these cases, you can have a person stay quietly for support.

What if I can't find the appointment I want to Book?

I am vigilant with updating my appointment availability but will occasionally be able to open extra time. If you are desperate for an appointment on a day I am scheduled not to work, I may offer to make an exception with an additional 'call out' fee.

If you can't see the appointment you want, please contact me as soon as you know and I will let you know ASAP if I can accommodate a new appointment time for you.
If you don't receive a response to a booking request, please accept this means it is because it isn't possible. We don't check messages or answer the phone while working.

I'm waiting for a response from you?

Please contact us as far in advance as you can. It's important I give my undivided attention to my clients, so I do not answer messages or emails while performing services.

You will generally receive a response in 12-24 hours, or 48 hours if it's between working days.

If I am on holiday I'll post about it on our social media pages before going away, to explain why there'll be a gap in correspondence.

Do you have Afterpay?

Yes, we now have Afterpay!

Lash Extensions

How do I prepare for a Lash Appointment?

Please do not wear eye makeup – especially mascara, as it will take more time to remove your makeup and gives us less time to apply your lash extensions.

Please do not drink coffee, tea, energy drinks for at least 2 hours prior to your appointment as caffeine can cause your eyes to flutter involuntarily, which will hinder the resulting quality of your lashes. Relax and have a lash nap with me, then you can recharge at the coffee shop next door after!

Please use the bathroom before arriving.

Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment. If it's your first time visiting Proud Beauty, we'll also need time to fill in a consultation form. If you are late, you lose that time off your appointment but will still be charged at full price.

If we are infilling someone else's work, please let me know in advance. I can only infill work of a similar quality to my own and will endeavour to do so, but it's possible you'll need a removal and a new set.

Infills require 40-50% remaining lashes. During an infill appointment, your lashes are cleansed and then any grown out lashes are removed before the infill truly begins. After removing grown out or closed fans, there's often only 20-30% left to work with. If we fill your lashes by this point, then we can get them truly full again.

Do Lash Extensions damage the Natural Eyelashes?

If applied correctly by a professional, lash extensions are safe and absolutely do not ruin the health of your natural lashes.

By properly isolating each eyelash and choosing the synthetic ones with care to each lash, a good artist will leave your natural lashes with no damage at all. In some cases people even find their lashes get more healthy, due do not wearing mascara and using makeup remover or rubbing their eyes every day.

Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this is something that can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.

Could I react to Eyelash Extensions?

Very rarely, people can develop an allergic to Lash Extensions, something that could happen early on or not for years.

The cause of this is the key ingredient 'cyanoacrylate' which is in most eyelash glues.

Once a body develops an allergy, this means it will no longer tolerate the glue.

I have never personally experienced someone developing this allergy. Thorough cleaning and wiping fumes from the area can definitely help minimise the risk.

If you think you have developed an allergy, take an antihistamine and get in touch for further advice or removal. If you experience swelling, I recommend you contact a doctor directly, as they may not want any removal products near your already inflamed eyes and might have a better solution.

Cosmetic Tattooing

Is Cosmetic Tattooing painful?

There is some pain involved in cosmetic tattooing but I minimise this as much as I can for you. The level of pain felt does depend on the individual’s pain threshold and some clients may find it uncomfortable - made bearable by the results of course! Topical and local anaesthetics are used for eyebrows and numb most of the feeling.

Your tattooed skin will feel tender for up to 24 hours. Stay away from direct heat, sun or sweating for a few days to minimise pain or itching and to protect your fresh tattoo so it lasts for a long time.

How permanent is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Cosmetic tattoos generally last 1-3 years but depending on skin type and lifestyle, they can sometimes last much longer. Your Powder Brow or Lip Blush tattooing will all fade over time and we usually recommend a touch-up every 2-3 years.

Is Cosmetic Tattooing Safe?

All equipment used in this service is 100% sterile. Most parts of the equipment used are disposable and prior to use you can see them in their unopened sterile packaging.

What's the Healing Process for Powder Brows?

On completion of your treatment, your brows will look a little darker to how they will when healed. Over the 1-4 days following, they will appear darker as the skin heals. They will not stay this dark!
On roughly day 4 post appointment, your brows or lips will start to feel dry and will gradually flake. It is really important to not itch or pick at the skin at this time, or you could prematurely take the setting ink out of the skin. This will give a patchy healed result and you would require extra touch ups.
Once your skin has finished flaking, it can appear that you have lost most of or all of the cosmetic tattoo. This is because the new skin on top is opaque, but it will become translucent in the coming weeks so you can see the ink underneath again.
In 20-30 days you'll see the true result of the tattoo, which is why we do the touch up appointment 6-8 weeks after the initial one.

What's the Healing Process for Lip Blush?

On completion of your treatment, your lips will look a little darker to how they will when healed. Over the 1-4 days following, they will become chapped and you will apply oitment to them frequently. They will crust and peel by day 5 or 6. You will see your results once peeled and cen get a perfecting session in 6-8 weeks.
